Dressed for a Summer Night
Linda Dickerson lives east of Lamar, Colorado, just past the end of Maple Street where it becomes a country road again. I don’t remember not knowing Linda. She married the guy that always did my parent’s auto-body work, until he retired. Then Paul and Darlene Lopez took over. There’s always been something exciting about knowing who would take care of your vehicles, when the event comes around and you need someone to fix a dent or something bigger. But, Linda Dickerson has always been more friend than business owner, and for that I will forever be grateful. Occasionally, she shares these amazing photos and knows I’ll ‘lift’ a few now and then, always giving her credit, announcing where they came from and sharing my hometown, where she continues to live. These photos of Sunset July 11, 2012, are amazing, not just because of the brilliant colors of the sky, but also because of the little bits and pieces of my home town that are readily visible within the pictures. Imagine… Power lines overhead, keeping people cool, preparing their food, and lighting their homes so they can read this blog post? A grain elevator standing tall over the treetops, high in read more…
Turncoat to LUB Reality – What will it cost?
After my phone ringing off the hook for the past month, I decided to look at the paper and see if I could figure out why everyone is calling me. There’s a new petition out, to shut down the power plant. That seems to be the reason they’re calling me, but there had to be more… What’s up with LUB that has their dander up again? I’d noticed the shift in policy of what was being tossed in the local landfill. That should make those on the road to the landfill happier, if not complacent… But I doubt it settled much dust in that area. I noticed raises in fees for surrounding communities because of transport costs. That should calm the fears of those who complain about rate hikes to transport power to outlying areas… But I doubt the prices are dropping any. I noticed more stories about Rick Rigel in the local paper, telling about his consultation with Leon Sparks, a trusted member of the community. That should actually calm the fireworks over the construction of a coal plant in Lamar… But I don’t see a calm coming anytime soon. The storm keeps building and the people of Lamar read more…
Power Plant Upheaval & Confusion
Beating a different drum… The power plant issue has come full circle, from a multi-million dollar deal to build a power plant in Lamar, to the destruction of a home owned power plant. Where’s the logic? Constant function has something to do with the process of building a power source that is constant, without fluctuation, providing consistent level power that meets the needs of local citizens. The power grid indicates a bigger source of power interactive throughout a section of the country, making the most of the power sources, by interactive association. Circular networks provide consistent power and energy flow. *************ADVERTIZEMENT************* Piano Lessons – Reasonably priced, scheduled to meet your needs. Contact information and more at PIANO LESSONS ******************************************** Wind generated power isn’t consistent, because the wind doesn’t always blow at the same rate of speed. Water generated power isn’t always consistent either, there are high tides and low tides, ebs and flows of speed, and no, water doesn’t always run downhill at the same speed. So, the invention of working electrical plants that generate what should be consistent power, transformed into holding sites (batteries?) and transported to the end client (usually my computer) creates a whole different source of read more…
