Tribute to the Local (LAMAR) Buzz
Violet Lane accomplished what some would call impossible, managing “another” paper in a community of 8,000 picky, unappreciative people. Who knew – when she started her paper – that so many events would appear in the news, worthy of being reported, recorded and renowned with historical review? Back in those early days when I started blogging about Lamar, I believed the people of Lamar would appreciate having an alternate news source, of any kind. Not because there was anything wrong with the LamarLedger, but rather, because most complained about it. Then along came the Buzz and Violet sunk her heart into the process of publishing a paper. We all complained, even me. I didn’t like a few things she did, and she felt she was right. Battle of the wills resulted in an agreement to disagree. No problem there, it’s a free country and we have a right to our own opinion – AND our own voice. As much as I disagreed with her about publishing a newspaper for local folks in SPANISH, I admired her for standing up for her right to do as she pleased. Last week the Obama administration gathered a flock of folks with nearly zero job creation experience to set a plan for job creation. Who was invited in and who was left out should sound an alarm for all workers. Government does NOT create real jobs. “Real jobs” are created by private business, period. In fact, small businesses are responsible for 80% of all jobs in our country. Government is not a business; government is force. Business creates wealth; government drains it. The Obama administration wants you to believe their magic potion for job creation—take taxpayer money and spend it for work paid with taxpayer money. This is not job creation; it’s theft.
