Brutal Summer Weather – Dampening Tourism?

Consider for a moment, the ability to watch dangerous storms arrive from 30 miles or more away, as you watch a baseball game at one of the new diamonds located south of Lamar, Colorado. Road construction is the norm in southeastern Colorado, but normal summer weather doesn’t include disastrous weather. By mid June the dangerous or severe weather warnings have most generally given up and arrived somewhere else.

Not this summer. Chilling spring storms, threatening thunder, heavy rain and tornado watches have plagued the area for most of the Spring.

If you’re still thinking about arriving in Lamar, Colorado for summer activities, the World Series Cal Ripkin events, or some other summer specialties, consider the weather and bring warmer than usual clothes, along with your usual summer fare. The excitement you enjoy may be a weather warning of the severe variety.
