Make Some NEW Memories at the Town Square
Lamar, Colorado (my hometown) is having a “Make New Memories” night at the town square: Saturday night 7:30 PM – Main Street at the court house. Everybody come on out and lets remember how things used to be. Just a good old fashioned BS session to say howdy to everyone. Bring the memories and let’s see who shows up. Someone please take pictures and post them. I hope there’s a crowd shows up and shares comments. That’s Tomorrow Night – any Saturday Night – same time, same place. If you’re in town, this is something fun and exciting to do. See who comes out on Saturday Night! This subject came up among friends, discussing how there used to be fun things to do in Lamar, and how often we used to spend the evening stopping over and visiting friends, parked on Main Street chatting with people we hadn’t seen all year. If you’re looking for a fun thing to do Saturday night, swing by BJ’s Burger and Beverage for a Hamburger and Hot Fudge Marshmallow Shake (yep, it’s a heart attack looking for a victim, but you’ll die happy) and bring it back to the square to eat and visit. read more…
Saying Goodbye to a Fine Commissioner
Having known and worked with Gene over much of the past seven years on various specific agendas with the county, I have to say it will be sad to watch him fade from the position. He’s a dedicated public servant and his efforts have been much appreciated. There simply aren’t enough hours in the day to fulfill the elevated duties of a dedicated Commissioner and the responsibilities of owning two growing businesses in our County. I have always believed in giving 100 percent in what I do. Anything less is not acceptable. I especially wish to thank my wife for her understanding of my commitment and the citizens whom have been so very supportive of my efforts. I will be happy to work with any candidate to fill my seat to facilitate a smooth transition following my last year of service. Thank You very much. – Gene Millbrand Full story. In case we don’t say it enough, anywhere else, Gene… Thank you for your service to the community!
Local Hospital Politics – Lamar, CO
Interesting bit of news I overheard a few days back, about the local hospital board. I’ve listened with some interest to the bashing going on around town, aimed at Marge Campbell and Candy Ruedeman, and their efforts at Prowers County Med Center. Having grown up, lived in Lamar and had my children there I’m rather familiar with both of these women, and have never had a problem with either one. I truly believe without Marge’s advice several years ago, I’d have had a bigger health problem and far more issues with medical care than I currently have, so that’s one big round of applause for her assistance. Candy has always been more than willing to help with any issue I’ve ever had, often over and above her job requirements.
