Markey coming to Lamar
On Saturday, 9/19/09, Congresswoman Betsy Markey will host a Congress on Your Corner Listening Session in Lamar. District residents are encouraged to bring thoughts, questions and concerns to share with Rep. Markey. The event will be held from 2:30-4 p.m. in the large lecture hall in the Bowman Building at Lamar Community College. Hope to see you there!
The Cannon Run – Lamar’s Home Style Football Gig
There’s no place like home… There’s no place like home… Dorothy speaks the words as she clicks her heels together and travels the distance through dreamland from Oz to Kansas. But there are those of us who need not travel so far as Kansas… We call Lamar, Colorado home. Arriving after a week in the big city, I found myself listening to the boom of the cannon announcing the success of the Savages landing yet another “touch down” and thinking how much fun it is to recognize the only loud noises in town as friendly successes. A few days in the city remind you that not all noise is pleasant or happy, sometimes the sirens announce an accident, a fire, or worse… But the drone of the traffic along the highway, less than a half mile from an apartment can be comforting. It means there are people out there and life as we know it continues, happily. With all the trouble spreading rampant through the news papers, it’s comforting to know there are still people driving to work during rush hour, jobs are still prevalent and the source of the American workforce still meets the need of the public. Tidwell Sparks Crowds in Lamar, Colorado
Returning for the first time since May 9th when Cleve Tidwell kicked off his campaign for U.S. Senate at the Lamar Days Parade, Tidwell sparks a crowd for the “We Remember Rally” at the Prowers County Courthouse. “Looking back over the past 8 years, it’s obvious our nation has changed, and not for the better,” says Tidwell. “We’ve lost important freedoms, our government has grown out of hand and they’re determined to overrule the Freedom and Liberty we were provided by the Constitution of the United States. This 2010 Election is our opportunity to turn the tide back to basics and demand that our government get out of our business.” Tidwell reminds us that “We the People” are the foundation of the Government and we must speak up loud and clear in the 2010 elections to be heard, above the roar of change that threatens to remove Freedom and Liberty from the face of America. Speaking out against Tyranny and Fascism are the least we can do, as Americans. There’s more to be done.
