Cowboy Camp – The Rolling Hills Cowboy Camp that is…
They’re back… Jack Martin has brought back the old time spirit of camp with a meeting under tents, introducing folks to Jesus. O.V. Keith and Diane Brown take care of the music, inviting local singers to participate in the song service. Pastor Steve Cody will be preaching again. If you haven’t ever been to the Rolling Hills Cowboy Camp at the Sand & Sage Fair Grounds in Lamar, Colorado, you’ll want to come this year… It’s more fun than you’ll have an opportunity to have anywhere else. And, I promise, you’ll have an opportunity to meet Jesus there. The Best of Lamar, Colorado
Ty Harmon – definitely produces the BEST Radio Show in town. It’s always fun and exciting to listen to Ty on KLMR Radio, located on the curve across from the Big Timbers Museum in Lamar, Colorado. The Willow Creek Park in Lamar, Colorado. Graceful trees shadow grassy knolls and park settings where residents gather for lunch and play time activities. Take a moment to gather in the Boy Scout Kiva on the east side of Willow Creek Park in Lamar, Colorado. Spend some time admiring the work of Boy Scouts and WPA workers who put together the stone benches in the late 1930′s. Take a moment as you pass through downtown to stop and wander around the Steam Engine sporting the numbers 1819, on the Chamber of Commerce lot. Investigate the Enchanted Forest and have your photo taken on North Pole Mountain, or near Santa’s cabin in the great northern woods of Lamar, Colorado. Residents of Lamar, Colorado are proud of the parks, and scenic bounty in the area. Celebrations of many kinds take place in Lamar, throughout the year. Cal Ripkin World Series 2009 to Happen in Lamar, Colorado
When a good friend from a neighboring community called today to ask when the Cal Ripkin World Series would be coming to Lamar, I considered for a moment the events that had just happened. Of course, I gave her the dates of the World Series, it seems a great event to share in our community – but the cost… The cost of this event coming to town is greater than any I’ve experienced in recent years to the community. When Mayor Nelva Heath spoke early on of the World Series coming to Lamar, I was as thrilled as any with anticipation of tourist trade and the good news of folks visiting along the Santa Fe Trail, stopping in at Big Timbers Museum and spending their money at the local hotels and restaurants along Main Street. The event seemed like the perfect opportunity to celebrate the community where my great grandparents homesteaded almost a hundred years ago. But… The event began turning sour as I realized the city people didn’t want to showcase Lamar, but rather to stage the community as a perfectly manicured residential town where everyone had perfect lives… Never mind that city employees, and elected officials in the read more…
