New Colorado License Plate Tax?

Have you heard? Colorado Legislatures have applies a new Colorado License Plate Tax. Is this yet another underhanded way to ADD tax while ignoring Colorado’s Tax Payer Bill of Rights written by Douglas Bruce. Colorado’s numerous attempts to DE-Bruce the tax laws and allow excessive taxation, may fail, but the State of Colorado finds numerous other methods of taxing citizens of the fair state blind. The New Colorado License Plate Tax law threatens to increase the tax amount on auto license plates by at least $41. 00 over the next two years, in an attempt to keep up with the crumbling bridges and massive crator potholes around the state. While I haven’t personally experienced the disappearing act crators in the road, or falling into the river when I cross a bridge, I’m told the roads are in such sorry condition that either experience is probably for the average driver. After having watched the DOT rebuild at least five bridges in the Southeaster Colorado area over the past five years, I’m not sure I’m in agreement that our bridges are in such sorry condition. The Dollar Dance – County Commissioners Prove Valid Spending

Consider for a moment the dance of the dollar, value comes into play, and justification for spending dares the comment, a wondering comment and the response. Is there any justification to spend money on Historic Preservation when the average family needs the money for survival? Or is this genuine opportunity for the family? The Wagon Barn proposal at the Museum is costing a quarter of a million dollars to house $60K worth of wagons the people of the county have serious doubt about cause for purchasing. Does this make sense? Of course it does. The history of Prowers County is an important part of the nation’s history. Without wagons, the settling of Prowers County and southeastern Colorado would have come much later in history. Pioneers arrived here in the Lamar area in the late 1800′s via wagons. So, what is the value in preserving that bit of history? As a citizen of the county, one decended from pioneers who settled the area, I can honestly attest to the value of knowing the history of the county.
